The CACHE organization provides CHE professionals with leadership excellence in CPD and Education Research.
Vision is the most powerful motivator in an organization. If the Vision is vivid and meaningful enough, people can do astounding things to bring it to realization.

KEY FUNCTIONS

Functions are the major working elements that will enable the organization to achieve its Vision. The functions are broad categories that will later be expanded in charters and by-laws to define roles and responsibilities, structure, and systems. While all these functions are important to realizing the CACHE Vision, the Steering Committee recommended the following components to ensure that the Key Functions of CACHE are accurately reflected in the By-Laws of the Association.

01MANAGEMENT:    Direction for organization, directors, charter, bylaws to describe membership, roles and responsibilities, regulatory updates, human resources

02FINANCIAL:    Fiscal security and business management fees, sponsors.    Need a specific Business Plan for fundraising to strike a balance of sponsorship vs. partnership

03COMMUNICATION:    Internal and external, website, newsletters, liaison with government, regulatory and professional bodies, international affiliations, strategic alliances with JCEP and Rx&D, Liaison between industry and academia. Bilingual capacity should be addressed in more detail.

04MEMBER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:    Educational, annual meeting, professional, conferences, workshops, forum for employment opportunities. Mentoring opportunity e.g. research implementing theory, educational endowments

05RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT:    Advancement of field, encourage research, support for knowledge dissemination, grants, fellowship, an opportunity for Canadian leadership to advance the field, Canada is the R & D engine for Education Research for other countries, provide a forum to encourage and disseminate information that will advance Education Research, collaboration, need for more liaison with Canadian Universities (Calgary in Sept’05)

06ESTABLISHMENT OF STANDARDS:    Collaboration with continuum of professional education, advocacy, industry-communication company-academic liaison, an opportunity to harmonize CHE standards Royal College and Family Medicine, Provide education, training, and Accreditation of CHE professionals, What is the CACHE Role and Responsibility? Standards, guidelines, ethics, accreditation? Who presides and how to balance the voice of all stakeholders?
